Edit & Add Products

Products >> Edit Products

Product IDs can have several items listed under them though only one item is displayed in the search result, there is one product that represents all items with different SKUs under that Product ID.

Add a Product

  • Click on the "Add New" link in the right corner of the product list
  • Enter appropriate information into the text fields
  • Click on the "Continue" button
Product ID number A product ID is created by you, usually you would want to follow some kind of structure. Do not include spaces or special characters in a Product ID. For example a good product ID for a notebook might be "NB001"
Title This is the title of the product.
Short Description This will be a short description of the product. For example, in the case of the notebook, the short description might be "Red Notebook."
Long Description This would be a more descriptive than the short description. For example in the case of the notebook, you might have "Red, 100 page, leather bound hardcover notebook." You may also use HTML code in the long description if you wish.
Small Image This will be your thumbnail image, this is the image should be small, roughly 100x100 pixels. This needs to be small because you will display it next to other the other products small pictures.
Large Image This will be your larger picture that will be displayed on the more detailed page of that specific item. This may be larger, but you would roughly want this to be 200x200 pixels.
Manufacturer This would be the manufactuer or brand of the product.
Manufacturer Part No. This would be the part or item number that the manufacturer has assigned to the item. This information is vital for re-ordering, the manufacturer will not know what personal code you assigned to the item, so you must maintain a record of their part number.
Related Products If you have related products you would want to list them here. For example, a red notebook may be related to a blue notebook.

SEO Title This is where you would put the SEO title. To learn more about SEO got to Site Services >> SEO Update.
SEO Description This is where you would put the SEO description. To learn more about SEO got to Site Services >> SEO Update.
SEO Keyword This is where you would put the SEO keywords. To learn more about SEO got to Site Services >> SEO Update.
Not Active If you don't want your product to be active just yet, you may check the "not active" box. When you are ready to activate the product simply uncheck that same box.

Product Category

You must also add your product to a category before your products will be available in your online store. If you fail to add your product to a category, it will not be available on your site.

Assigning Product Codes

When you are assigning Product ID, it is a good idea to have a personal formula to go by, that way it is easy for you identify a product by its code. Product IDs should only contain alpha numeric characters, never any spaces or special characters.
