In order for your products to show up in search results they must belong to a category. Products are assigned to the categories then show up in those categories when someone performs a search that might relate to that product.

You can manage and modify your product categories easily using our online tools. In this section you can add new categories, modify descriptions of categories, change the category order and delete a category. The same product can belong to more than one category. The image displayed below shows that.

Here is a chart to demonstrate that Product IDs can be in several categories.

Category Setup

The parent category determines a parent child relationship between two categories. This can be a powerful feature of your site if you choose to use software managed listings. An example of a parent child category would be:

Setup Categories for two levels
Setup Categories for drill down
Custom display of product categories (requires programming)

You can setup your product categories in a variety of ways. You can have multiple categories with the same name and located within different parent categories.

Remember that you can put your products into multiple categories, so you don't need to duplicate pictures or product information.

The setup of your categories will affect the shopping experience for your customers, therefore it is important to setup your categories so that they are easy to navigate. Adding a New Category

Click on the "Add New" link in the top right corner of the category list
Enter the appropriate information into the text fields
Click on the "Update" button to save

Category Name	This would be the name of the new category.
Category Description	This would be the general description of the category.
Category Image	This is the category image if any, it should be jpg or gif format.
SEO Title	This would be the Search Engine Optimization title, to learn more go to SEO Update.
SEO Desc	This would be the Search Engine Optimization description, to learn more go to SEO Update.
SEO Keywords	This would be the Search Engine Optimization keywords, to learn more go to SEO Update.
Category Order	This the numerical value referring to the order the category is displayed in.
Hide Display	Check the "Yes" button to hide the category.
Parent Category	Choose from the dropdown menu which parent category this new category will belong to.

Edit a Product Category

Click on the "Edit" link unde the Action column
Edit the appropriate information in the text fields
Click on the "Update" button to save changes
